Wasabi!!

1. Just dropping by for a few minutes to tell you that:

2. We leave for China one week from today.

3. I currently have a sinus infection.

4. The pretty green stuff on the side of a box of sushi is not, I repeat NOT guacamole.

5. Which means eating a mouthful of it by itself is not a good idea.

6. Even if it is pretty.

7. Lesson learned by this first-time sushi-eater.

8. On the plus side, wasabi does make for an excellent sinus douche.

9. So if my supply of antibiotics, prescription nose spray and prescription decongestant don't do the trick, I'll be carrying some wasabi with me on the plane.

10. I'll be blogging throughout our entire 2 1/2 weeks in China for anyone who wants to follow our journey.

11. I can't promise there won't be a few international incidents interesting things to discuss.

12. Yes, we're taking a camera.

13. No, I won't let my hubby take a picture of me seconds after I've foolishly filled my mouth with the oh-so-pretty but holy-crap-spicy wasabi.

  2. Love wasabi! But cautiously. At least it's not the "ghost pepper":

    Used as a weapon? Yikes!

Can't wait for you to start your journey ;)

  8. So I went to this sushi place for my birthday and I thought the bowl of wasabi was green tea. Being my stubborn self I didn't listen to my husband and put a spoonful in my mouth. I wasn't happy. It was the worst idea ever!

I stay away from it now!

  9. See, this is why you take your sister with you for a first time sushi eating instead of just a friend. I would have taken pictures.

And how can you NOT have had sushi before when you lived in MALIBU???

  10. And I just want to point out that one of the ads on the side of your page is for Black Rose Tattooers. The description is "Most Knowledgeable Staff In Town First Aid, CPR, and BBP Certified". Um...why does a tattoo shop need to advertise they are more knowledgeable in first aid and CPR? That does not inspire confidence.

  11. Oh, and please explain to me why I can make a comment just fine then immediately type another one and it tells me I have to sign in. Blogger suffers from a serious lack of savvy.

  12. LMAO! Um, Japanese and Mexican food don't usually combine on the same plate.

For whatever reason, I knew better than to touch the pretty green stuff on the side of the sushi plate my first time, but then, my friend's mom is Japanese. LOL Wasabi is how a small group of us say "What's up?"
