  1. Hi! We spoke at your book launch party about the possibility of you doing an author visit at Hendersonville High School. Is that still something you would be available for or interested in? If so, we would love to have you!

    1. Thank you! Wish I could see you as well! I'm actually deleting your comment to save readers from seeing plot reveals before they've read, but I am so thankful you stopped by, and I appreciate you!

  6. Well, I was happily shocked when I ran across your book today! (Soni W. passes her books to Lynne H. who passes them to me ... and there you were!) I'm happy to say "I knew you when". Congratulations dear girl ... I knew you could do it & I'm very proud of you. Just sorry I haven't been more closely in touch to know what you were up to! Your old friend from T.O., Darlene J.

  7. Hi CJ. I am a major fan of Defiance and Deception, and I was wondering if you were considering following up on the idea of making the Defiance series into a movie. I would be the first person to buy tickets if/when it comes to a theater in New York! Thanks!!!

    1. I'd love to see the Defiance trilogy be made into movies. Hopefully one day a studio will come calling. :)

  8. Aw, no Colorado. :( Maybe next time.

  9. i was in the library, and deception caught my eye. It said it was the sequel, so i hunted for the first one. After reading the summary of the book on the back of the front cover, i checked them both out and finished them in two days. I've read a lot of books, but defiance and deception are by far my favorite. Im going back to the library tomorrow to see if they have the third one. I would love more than anything for them to be published into movies. You are a very talented writer, which I want to be one day. I would also love for you to have a book signing near my town (after i buy defiance though haha) so you can sign my copy and it would be an honor :) i hope you continue to write books because your books left me on the edge of my seat after every turn of the page though.

    1. I'm so glad you loved both Defiance and Deception! The third book, Deliverance, hits the shelves 8/26/14 so your library won't have a copy yet, but maybe they can reserve it for you so you can be the first to read it? Hope to meet you at a signing one day!

  10. Hi C.J
I'm from Chile and I would like to know if there's any chance the trilogy comes to latin america in spanish.
I haved read defiance but it was hard to read it because english is not my fort but I loved it anyway.
I will appreciate your answer thank you c:

    1. I would love to see the trilogy published in Spanish! I don't have any control over whether that happens. My agent has the books available for non-US publishers to read and buy if they'd like. It's just a matter of waiting to see if someone does!

    2. Hi Mrs.Redwine I just finished deliverance I loved it you are a brilliant writer your book had me so hooked I stayed up till 2 am to finish it but its bitter sweet because its over and I have been searching for so long to find my perfect book I wanted to thank you for giving me a series of books where I loved each book equaly and just like Logan its hard for me to find the words to describe the way these books made me feel you are a brilliant writer you made me so happy keep doing what you do. SPEAKing Out

Honestly, this is a post I never dreamed I'd write. My hands are shaky, and I'm frantically thinking through all the possible consequences and ramifications of telling my story even as I type. Not consequences for me, but for my family who may not appreciate having me peel back the cover on my childhood and invite the world to take a look.

But I think I need to. Because there's a book out there being called soft pornography and filth by a man who wants it yanked from high school libraries and curriculum in the name of Christianity, and I have to disagree.

The book is SPEAK by Laurie Halse Anderson and it tells the story of a high school girl who is raped and chooses to remain silent about the horrible thing that has happened to her. The man objecting to the book is Dr. Wesley Scroggins, a resident of Rebulic, Missouri who published an opinion letter in the newspaper decrying several things included in the public school education in Republic. After calling the book soft-por…

Interview With Rachel Hawkins

Many of you remember Rachel's (somewhat legendary) interview last year where she took on the Were-llama with style. You may also recall that I included Rachel's first book, HEX HALL, in my list of the best books I read in 2010. Rachel is hilarious, authentic, smart, and talented, and I couldn't wait to have her back on the blog!

DEMONGLASS, the sequel to HEX HALL, hit the shelves March 1st. As soon as I turn in my latest manuscript, I am going to be all over this book! Here's a peek:

WARNING: Spoiler alert for those of you who haven't read HEX HALL.

Sophie Mercer's first term at Hex Hall turned out to be quite eventful. First the ghost of her evil grandmother haunted her every move, then her best friend was accused of murder and of course there was the discovery that Archer Cross, aka the boy of her dreams, was actually an undercover demon hunter - which would probably be something she could have worked on, if she hadn't also discovered that she was actually…
